My friend dropped her cell phone in the toilet. While it was under water she turned it off and once she got it out she took out the sim card. We%26#39;re trying to figure out how to fix it and we%26#39;ve heard blow dry it, lay in on a heater, or out in the sun. WE also heard that soaking it in 95% rubbing alcohol will dry the water out and then whatever alcohol is left in the phone will evaporate on it%26#39;s own. true or not??
any other suggestions?!

The first thing to be aware of and do is that the battery MUST be removed from the wet phone for you to have any hope of saving it.
As for the actual idea, it is a novel one and has some merit. The alcohol will displace the water in the phone and likely prevent some harm from coming to it, but there is a catch. You can%26#39;t be sure that all of the water will be displaced. There may be some in a little crevice or under a shield (where the guts of the phone live) that is left and the damage will still be done. Also the alcohol can dissolve some of the adhesive inside the phone and do more damage than was already done.
The best thing to do is get the phone over to somebody who can take apart the phone in a safe environment (ESD safe) and clean out each of the components with an ESD safe brush and some alcohol. I%26#39;ve done this myself on several occasions and it has the best chance of saving the phone as long as the battery was quickly removed and too much time has not passed.
I hope that answers your question. Why would putting a cell phone in liquid make it dry? Use your f**kin head. I have never heard that soaking your phone in alcohol will help dry it. Rubbing alcohol is only going to make it worse. Put in a sunny window at your and let it dry out. It might take a day or so depending on how wet it got.
