But the thing with the iPhone is that you really can%26#39;t do anything to it unless it%26#39;s activated, so the store will need a demo line set up with it. in my mall they have an apple store and u can play with everything ive played around with everything apple pretty much owns so just go to a mall with an apple store i went to the apple store and they do have several open for you to play around with, at least 10 where i went. i would think that the apple store would have the most avalible, so i would go there. apple stores and att stores both have iphones where u can test them

I went to Europe for the summer and needed a cellphone so I dished out $150EU for a Sony Ericsson W200i, I bought it at a Best Buy type store it was unlocked so I was able to put in any SIM card I wanted so I just picked one up at a gas station for $17EU and used prepaid phone card to recharge the SIM card, but now I brought it back to California with me, Its a tri-band phone but it should work fine here as long as I can find a provider that will hook me up with just a SIM card.

So does anyone know what the best option would be, is it even worth it?

If you want to get hooked up with JUST a sim card (AKA prepaid service), then theres really only 2 providers.

Cingular/AT%26T offers the GoPhone service. Just walk into any AT%26T store and ask to get a prepaid SIM card.

T-Mobile to Go is the other option.

Personally, I prefer GoPhone. They have good connectivity all around. Although GoPhone is a little more expensive than T-mo to go, it%26#39;s worth it. When I called customer support the first time, I was hooked up with a representative within 30 seconds. T-mo made me wait about 5 on average.

T-mobile%26#39;s SIM card failed on me and I tried calling support 4 times and they never helped. I went to the store to ask for an exchange or to have THEM test the SIM card, but I got yelled at. go to any gsm store and ask for a sim card. they cost around $20.

Check out this website to see if any of these are with in your price range. Cricket doesn%26#39;t have the best coverage, but it doesn%26#39;t come with any type of contract, so you won%26#39;t be locked into the service for 2 years if you become unhappy with it. One thing that you may want to look into is see who most your family and friends are using and get on with that mobile provider and make sure to add Mobile to Mobile. That would depend on where you live. In general, it won%26#39;t matter what phone you have. Your service with Verizon will be horrible. I would highly recommend you check out the Better Business Bureaus comments on Verizon before you purchase a phone with them. There is a reason that at%26t is the #1 cell provider. I would recomend a nokia. They are know for there reception and durability. the type of cell phone you have does not affect the reception, the provider you have does, in this case you have Cingular Wireless/AT%26T. I am a technician for Verizon %26 I would have to say the Chocolate (the new Chocolate vx8550). The old chocolate %26 the Razr were the 2 worst phones we had. If you are Verizon, pick the new Chocolate, the en-V or the vx8700. The Chocolate Fo Sho don%26#39;t have any experience with the chocolate, but have had to replace the razor phone 3 time cause the buttons keep messing up I have a couple of friends that have the razor and a couple that have the chocolate and all of them complain. Depends on your personal preference. The Razr is yesterday%26#39;s popular phone, and it has had quite a few issues with buttons not working. The Chocolate is the new trendy phone. I haven%26#39;t had much experience with the Chocolate. the chocolate. i%26#39;ve been told by people at Verizon that the razor dosen%26#39;t have as long of battery life and if you drop it, it is more likely to break i know a couple people with the chocolate and it texts people by itself when you close the phone. if i were you , id get the razor. its smaller although not as fancy looking as the chocolate. it also takes good pictures. razor the choclate that i hade broke becasue of a felx cable gets damaged by you usig it i recommend a chocolate out of the two but ive always thought that people should jugde for themselves so go to phonescoop.com and select the phone and then compare it to the other one. make sure that you choose the same company because it will help The Razar! I have owned both the Razor and the Sony Ericson W300i. I HATED THE RAZOR! It turned off when it wanted, it dropped calsl. (my sister also had trouble with it) I LOVED THE W300i awesome phone! the only problem i had with it was my ear piece went out. But if my provider would of still had them I would of bought another one just like it! sony ericsson W300i would be a wise choice,i have Z530i the same as W300i but without walkman player,the keys are a little bit hard to use but overall is cool,i like it so muuch I would also look at a Motorola V-188! These are rugged little flip phones that have good voice quality and a long battery life. The buttons are small and is has no camera, but it does really well if dropped and it has an USB mini port so you can use it like a modem for your laptop in areas with wifi! Good screen, small size clear graphics and easy user friendly interface! you might want to try the website below. I don%26#39;t recommend a Razr.I have one and I%26#39;m ready for a new phone. Its an OK phone but what sucks is that if you drop it once that%26#39;s pretty much it.from then on out every time you drop it or even tap it hard or set it down on the table to hard or something like that it turns off...and I don%26#39;t know anything bout the others but I wouldn%26#39;t get a refurbished one either cause you don%26#39;t know what was wrong with it b4... if you have to get cingular go with the razr or (this phone isnt in your options but) go with the krazr not manny people have them BUT they rock i have one with uscellular and i love it Selecting a cell phone can be difficult sometimes. i have worked with every one of these phones and each of them tell there own story.. first of all, it isnt the phones that are as bad as people make them to be, it is the people who own them.. razrs can be very good phones for people who are not clumsy at all ad know how to take care of things and will never drop it or get it wet, because once u do, thats history for that phone and it will never work the same...

sony ericsson are a more durable phone and can last longer through physical damage that the razr or the blackjack ever will. they do have funny buttons but once u get use to them the that will be the least of the problems.. i have never had any one to just return one for other reasons that normal like water damage or internal effect that can happen ti any phone...

I think the iPhone is very overrated and too expensive. I would stay away from it. There are many flaws that still have to be fixed.

Maybe in a couple years they will be cheaper and better.

I have the Sony Ericcsson w810i and I am very satisfied with it. Samsung E940 For now, I%26#39;d hold off on the iPhone. It%26#39;s full of bugs(thanks Apple) and being Apple, they%26#39;ll be releasing more and more different versions, models colors etc, in the near future. you can count on that. Plus, it%26#39;s only on AT%26T which SUCKS.

Of the phones out there, I%26#39;d say t-mobile dash or Wing, Helio Ocean, Treo 750 (or whichever is the latest model) or the new Motorola Q.

Any of these phones will be comparable to the iPhone in terms of functionality. The Ocean is a multimedia monster with all the bells and whistles. The Wing is touch screen with a host of features as well. I%26#39;d say look into some of these phones first before ponying up $600 for an iPhone that will be obsolete within a year. I THINK U SHOULD GET AN IPHONE BECAUSE THEY WORK VERY GOOD I KNOW THAT BECAUSE I HAVE ONE BUT MY SISTER HAS A SIDEKICK AND IT WORKS GREAT TOO. i answered this a little while ago heres the link. very descriptive. whichever one you want I would suggest the RIZR. That is the phone I am looking to get when I upgrade and it is very nice. It has a music player and a 2MP camera with a Flash, unlike the KRZR. Also, it has a better screen [the RIZR has 252k color and the KRZR has 65k]. The RIZR also has better battery life and doesn%26#39;t get as many fingerprints than the mirror like material on the KRZR.

The 1st one looks good.Do not get the chocolate i think the second one is good :]] The first phone got a CNET Editors choice, so that may be the best one, especially for handling music. Which cell phone would you choose?

Motokrzr K1 or the Motorola Razar. What I am afraid of is that the Motorola Razar is going to be out of style in a couple of months. I am using T Mobile as my carrier.

DO NOT BUY THE KRZR!! I had one for a month before I broke it in half and threw it across the room. It has a massive delay when pushing the buttons before anything happens. It constatly switches between roam, regular service and no signal. Then it notifies you that you have messages everytime this occurs which is annoying as all hell. The menu system is retarded and counter-intuitive. I despised that phone. It was seriously the worst phone I have ever had. There are a million reasons to not get one, don%26#39;t find out the hard way. The Krzr but it is much more expensive where I live. the chocolate flip don%26#39;t choose the razor, those are known to break esily anyways. Besides, if you are worried they will be out of style choose the krzr. razr is better..krzr is a bad phone !!

Go for the U740. It%26#39;s got a qwerty keypad if you like to text.

The Razr has a very bad rep because of the very first ones that came out through Cingular. It%26#39;s not a bad phone; I%26#39;ve had one myself. The one thing I do not like about the Razr is that it is slower than most phones. Don%26#39;t get Verizon. They cripple phones%26#39; built-in features so that you have to pay extra for their "special" services. Verizon may have great coverage, but their phone interface is crap! Try to stay away!

But if there isn%26#39;t an option, I%26#39;d go with the Samsung u740. It won%26#39;t break, Samsung makes good consumer electronics! But do stay away from the RAZR! I%26#39;d get the Samsung U740...don%26#39;t get the razr. It%26#39;s old and played out.

Today there are so many great phones on the market but I always have such bad luck about choosing them because there batteries last only for a day or two.

to tell you the truth all cell phones have same battery from the 1999 to the 2008 its the same thing the only thing you can do is change ur display settings and ur brightness on your phone that shuld save hella alot of power and ..modle that matters if its the one with doble screen thats more then a single and if it has a camera in it the more you use the flash you kill 5 % of battery each time you use it so check details first that shuld help my thing is a verizon phone and it last 3 or 4 days no charging and my gf had the same problem and i switch her settings a little and boom it works now she can have it for 3 or 4 days. lol.... I don%26#39;t own one, don%26#39;t want one, can%26#39;t t stand %26#39;em. i don%26#39;t have one. Nokia 6682. it records about 1 hr of video, has a SUPER camera with zoom and flash, comes with a USB cable and PC suite so I can send pics to my computer and modify them, make wallpapers... Its an excellent phone. Nokia is excellent!

the razrs are hot phones that everyone is soo intersted in because of its thin sleek design... but i am here to tell u that the razr was not built or everyone. when the phone was created, it was built thin with a tiny fram and the infrastrucure of the phone is close to the suface of the phone- but what other choice was there?? if u let the razr be exposd to almost any liquid damage, sun or is at least dropped hard at all, then u can expect to replace the phone- and although it may not break- it may never operate like the same phone again. i have dealt with so many circuit boards destroyed on the razrs due to careless mistakes!! but i have the razr and i have had if for almost two years with no problems...

even though i havent worked with the upstage phone that much, i think it is a very nice phone. if u are one that is into music then i would suggest the samsung because it is one o the first dual sided music phones and it will have more features and memory than the razr. it is rather thin like the razr and it has the unique screen rather thsan the large one that most of the other phones have...

your decision would have to be based on what u are looking for your phone to do, because if u just want a more basic, camera,in-style flip phone with bluetooth tech and internet capable then i would suggest the razr... but if u are look for a saavy, thin, phone wilth tons of features as is music based, then go with the upscale!

Most significant difference I can see is that the camera on the RIZR is actually 2.0 Megapixels, while the RAZR is 1.23. If you have a good digital camera and only use the phone camera for quick fun pics it really won%26#39;t make a huge difference. The RIZR is a slider phone while the RAZR flips open. The RAZR has a lot more options but both seem pretty good.

I guess it kind of depends on your purpose for the phone, other than being a phone. Check the link I am including to compare the two models yourself and see what you think. What I found most confusing is that they have similar features but for some reason they are listed differently in the specs. Like the Camera function, being listed differently for each, though they both are camera phones.

Which is better: The LG chocolate or the LG Env?

Its a tough decision!

I would definitely go with the env over the chocolate there are too many issues with the screen going out on the chocolate and the spring in the slider coming out the env is also alot more durable and so much easier for texting I personally have the white chocolate phone. i have a few friends that have the envy, and though it may seem cool, it definately is not the best choice--they%26#39;ve had problems with it and say the keyboard is overrated. the touch keypad on the top slider section of the chocolate definately took some getting used to. same with the bottom half, the numbers, which are very close together and almost impossible to text with until you practice by starting out slow. if you%26#39;re willing to accept my opinion, DEFINATELY go with the chocolate! I LOVE it and wouldn%26#39;t trade it for any other phone in the WORLD!! good luck!

I like Cingular better. They have a big variety of phones to choose from. Verizon is almost always the last carrier to provide some of the coolest phones that are out there. Since getting together with AT%26T (Cingular now actually is AT$T) the service has been very good. One of the reasons i like Cingular better is because you could use those phones almost anywhere outside the US and you can send international text messages almost everywhere and with Verizon you can only do that to a few countries. Also the roll-over minutes plan is great. Verizon. I have Cingular now I can%26#39;t stand them. But I%26#39;ve had Verizon also and I liked it better. I have had verizon for about 7 years and never have had problems. It depends where you live ask your friends which one they have. If more of your friends have verizon than use that because it will be free to text and call them, or if more have cingular/att use that because it will be free to text or call them. I have verizon and I travel a lot and the coverage is really good in the northeast. I think they have better coverage in PA than cingular, but in the Carolina%26#39;s and south I think Cingular is better coverage! Go under each carriers website and you should be able to check your coverage up to street level. Also if you travel look at your destinations, keep into consideration if you have friends and relatives in either provider. The mobile to mobile will help alot..

Which is better? at&t vs verizon?

i have at%26t right now and i live in mass. my parents want to switch from at%26t to verizon soon because they heard that verizon has better coverage and just better overall. should we switch? becuase i would prefer keeping the at%26t if its not that big of a difference. btw, if i switch companies, how much would it cost for me to keep my same number?

There is no cost involved with keeping your same cell phone number. It%26#39;s called porting your number and its absolutely free. Verizon has always rated higher in Consumer Report%26#39;s tests than everyone else. I sell multiple carriers and Verizon has always seemed to be the best overall. I have had verizon for 7 yrs and i love it. i use to have cingular but i didn%26#39;t like it. att and verizion are about equal i perfer att but cost wise you can,t beat them AT%26T is the slowest network speed of the main networks. I know a few friends that had AT%26T for awhile and did not like it all I heard from them was complaints and they switched as soon as they could.

I%26#39;ve had Verizon for about 6 years now, I have never had any problems at all. Coverage has never been an issue even in rural areas. Yes, porting your number is free, and at%26t has the fastest network speed in major cities, and they are continually adding to that coverage. Check out the Mapping Tool on at%26t%26#39;s website. It%26#39;s possible that Verizon *does* have better coverage where you are in Mass., but it%26#39;s worth the few minutes to check.

Also, if you travel abroad, at%26t allows you to use your existing handset, whereas with Verizon, you would have to buy or rent a handset because their technology isn%26#39;t gloabally supported.

Cable is way faster, But DSL is cheaper I switched to DSL from cable and have not regretted it. I have not been frustrated by slower speeds. It is barely noticeable. Cable is so much better and it never disconnects you from the internet. Paying more makes it worth more. If you pay less for DSL, they will kick you offline frequently and loading webpages will be very slow for you. Stick with cable all the way.

At your age i think what matters more is simplicity. N series are not for you unless you want v high quality sound but they are large. 6300 has some battery problems. 6233 has a very good picture quality as well good battery life. I recently bought it for my dad. Strongly suggest that you atleast hav a look at it in real at some nokia care centre or so. You gl like it . The only reason its not that popular it because its series 40 phone not series 60. But that wont matter you as i concerns people like me who hav to use i more like a gaming console (i hav nokia 6681). I%26#39;ve always been partial to Nokia phones. I%26#39;ve heard they work the best for deaf people because they have deaf engineers working on the technology. However, the newer digital hearing aids from Oticon and GN Resound have bluetooth technology built in, and that seems to be the direction both the hearing aid and cell phone industry is going, so I definitely would not buy anything that didn%26#39;t have blue tooth -- eventually the voice on the phone will go straight to your HAs over bluetooth. any mobile which is having vibration option and a external ligthning option will be helpful A fully deaf friend of mine uses a T-Mobile Sidekick.

I%26#39;m not fond of T-Mobile, but the speaker on the phone was excellent (he could feel the vibrations...perhaps a partially deaf person would hear it?) and the keyboard was essential to the text messages that he relied on for communication.

If it%26#39;s easier to text than it is to carry on a conversation, I would recomment the Sidekick or a Blackberry. I%26#39;m not particularly fond of the blackberry, either, but it too has a keyboard of sorts.

You may also want to look for types compatible with something of this nature (which is why I recommended the BlackBerry)

i%26#39;m with T-Mobile have been for years. They don%26#39;t charge u for voicemail unless u are roaming. U get good incentives too.if u top up between 10 and 300 pounds in the month,they credit u with 20% promotional credit back into ur phone. If u top up using ur debit or credit card,they give u money back as credit. U can purchase text bundles too which are fab value if u like a wee text or 2! I save a fortune that way! I have a 3 Pay as you go phone. they offer a great service IMO

and they even pay you to get texts and receive calls.

I think there is a small charge for getting voicemail, but as I don%26#39;t use the service very often so not sure. Try Net10 now tmobile has some new thing going on, is like you gonna pay upfront, but you still gonna have a plan to go along with it, and also, free nights and weekends, so I suggest you to check that out. o2 are by far the best, they give so much free stuff away, texts, minutes and 10% back of your top up every three months. It really depends on your area. Make sure you read all the fine print especially on the re-load minute cards.that%26#39;s where the pre-pay or pay as you go phones get your money. If you use your phone alot and like to text %26 use voice mail you really are better off getting a contract. It%26#39;s all about the research to find the best possiable deal that meets your needs and usage.
